The Premier League has seen a number of brilliant, outstanding strikers ply their trade in England – with some of them etching their name in the history books. Here, we take a look at five of them.
5. Harry Kane – 8
Widely hailed as one of the best strikers in the world, Harry Kane has remained very prolific ever since his breakout season for Tottenham Hotspur in 2014/15 and since then he has gone on to score 181 goals in just 278 appearances.
These figures include eight hat-tricks and at 26-years-old he is yet to hit his prime, with the England skipper expected to break all the league records in the future.
4. Thierry Henry – 8
Thierry Henry is perhaps the greatest player in the history of the Premier League and remains Arsenal’s all-time record goalscorer with 226 goals in 369 appearances for them, of which 174 have come in the league.
The Frenchman has netted eight hat-tricks in the league and sits fourth on the list.
3. Robbie Fowler – 9
Nicknamed as “God” by Liverpool supporters, Robbie Fowler was one of the best strikers during the 1990’s and early 2000’s, with him particularly known for his goalscpring prowess especially during his first spell with the Reds.
Fowler netted 171 goals for the Reds in his first spell, which included nine hat-tricks in the league.
2. Alan Shearer – 11
The Premier League’s record goalscorer and an legend in every aspect of the game, Alan Shearer is widely considered as the best ever striker in England footballing history and scored 260 league goals including 11 hat-tricks before eventually hanging up his boots.
1. Sergio Aguero – 12
The highest goalscoring foreigner in Premier League history, Sergio Aguero scored arguably the most important goal in Manchester City’s history and is arguably their best ever player. The Argentinian is 31 at the moment and has a couple of more years left in his armoury which could see him break all records, if he decides to remain in England for the foreseeable future.
