Serie A giants, AC Milan have struggled over the past decade, with their glory days way behind them. The Italian side do not have the required personnel at present to challenge for the trophy and will need to sign new players in the summer. However, before they buy, they need to sell in order to balance their books. Here, we look at five players who might not be in their plans come next campaign.
1. Mateo Musacchio
Milan have struggled in defence ever since Paolo Maldini and Thiago Silva left, with none of the players bought being able to fill their boots. Mateo Musacchio was one such player who was expected to help make the defence better, but the Argentinian has shown that he is a player of limited ability.
Milan are reportedly looking to sell the 29-year-old and it does make sense considering that he is not a regular part of the starting XI.
2. Leo Duarte
Another defender who has struggled to make an impression at the San Siro has been Leo Duarte, who only joined the club from Flamengo in the summer. The 23-year-old has made only five appearances for the club and could be let go soon.
3. Andrea Conti
Widely considered as one of the best youth prospects during his time at Atlanta, Andrea Conti’s time at Milan has been hampered by injuries and poor form. He has only managed to make 38 appearances in his three seasons so far, which is a poor return for a young player.
4. Lucas Biglia
Known for his ability to control the game in midfield, Lucas Biglia has been a disappointment for the club considering that he was excellent for the likes of Lazio prior to moving to the San Siro. The 34-year-old is coming to the end of his career and it will be interesting to see whether the club holds on to him or sell him.
5. Franck Kessie
Another player who was signed amid huge expectations from Atlanta was Franck Kessie and despite showing flashes of brilliance, he has not lived up to the expectations placed on him. His behavioural problems too have not gone down well with the management, who are keen to get him off their books.
