Arsenal are yet to offer star player, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang a new contract as the Gabonese’ deal with the club continues to run down with ESPN reporting that despite his importance to the fortunes of the north London side, no deal has been forthcoming from the management.
Aubameyang has just one year left on his current contract, post which he would be free to walk away on a free transfer, which has left the club in a dilemma whether to offer him a new deal or cash in on their star player.
The outbreak of coronavirus pandemic has made the decision trickier for the Gunners considering that they would not be able to command the high transfer fees that they would be expecting due to the financial problems caused by the virus.
Aubameyang it is understood is keen to make a splash in the Champions League considering that he has never won it in his career and with Arsenal struggling to even qualify for the premier competition, he might just decide to leave for greener pastures.
The 30-year-old has without doubt been Arsenal’s most important player over the past two seasons, scoring 61 goals in 97 appearances in all competitions for them so far and will be key if they are to qualify for Europe next season.
