Chelsea are among a host of top European clubs reported to be interested in acquiring the services of Borussia Dortmund‘s Jadon Sancho, and they could sell unwanted players to raise funds to sign the young England international, according to latest reports.
Manchester United are believed to be the front runners for Sancho’s signature, but Chelsea ‘hope to snap him up’ as the Blues look for a summer rebuilding. However, Sancho won’t come cheap, even in the current circumstances, and Chelsea will need to splash out £120m to secure the services of the 20-year-old.
The west Londoners will likely have to raise funds to generate that much amount to sign the winger, and they could generate some much-needed cash by offloading Alvaro Morata and Tiemoue Bakayoko, who currently play for Atletico Madrid and AS Monaco respectively on loan from Chelsea, reports the Daily Express.
Since joining Atletico Madrid in January 2019, Morata has delivered decent performances for the Spanish side. Spanish outlet Marca have reported that Los Rojiblancos are willing to pay £47.8m to make his deal permanent.
Meanwhile, Bakayoko has also impressed since joining AS Monaco and is reported to have attracted the interests of Ligue One champions PSG. Monaco have an option to make the deal permanent, but reports indicate that is unlikely, which would pave the way for Les Parisiens to sign the defensive midfielder. Chelsea would reportedly part ways with Bakayoko for £31m.
Should this happen, Chelsea would be able to generate funds in the region of £80m. Add to that, they have not yet completely utilised the £88.5m they had received from Real Madrid for the sale of Eden Hazard, and could use that in the upcoming transfer window as they look set for a transfer overhaul. It will Frank Lampard’s side raise funds to lure Jadon Sancho away from Dortmund, beating the likes of Manchester United in the process.
