Former Brazil striker, Edilson has made a huge claim by going on to state that he was a better player than Lionel Messi, Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar in his prime despite not playing in Europe during his career.
Messi, Ronaldo and Neymar are widely hailed as the best players in the world at present, with the Argentinian and Portugese stars especially dominating the footballing sphere over the past decade or so, winning a combined 11 Ballon d’Or awards between them.

Despite their achievements, Edilson believes that he was better than the duo in his prime as he won the World Cup with Brazil in 2002.
“At my best, I played better than Neymar. He needs to win the World Cup in order to be better than me. I have personality and for Messi to be better than me, he also has to win the World Cup. Cristiano Ronaldo is just strength, he strikes the ball well with both feet but I’m more skillful than him,” he said as quoted by Metro.
The lack of an international honour has been the only slight in Messi’s illustrious career so far, while Ronaldo for his part has one such honour in his kitty as he led Portugal to the Euro 2016 title.
