Former Ghana star, Bernard Dong-Bortey has made a huge claim, revealing that the presence of Barcelona talisman, Lionel Messi at the club is hindering some of the youngsters from the club from becoming superstars.
Their rivals, Real Madrid have in the recent past overtaken them when it comes to playing youngsters with the Los Blancos giving the likes of Vinicius Junior and Rodrygo Goes a number of opportunities to shine.
While Barcelona have Ansu Fati in their ranks, Dong-Bortey believes that Vinicius is better than Fati and that the presence of Messi could hurt the progress of Fati at the Nou Camp.
“I think Vinicius is the most exciting young player for me because to play for Real Madrid is not an easy thing. If you get the chance, you have to play your heart out. Vinicius is even making the first XI. He’ll be a great player one day,” Dong-Bortey told Goal.
“Fati is also good but there are the likes of Messi at Barcelona and you can only become the star man when Messi is not there. But at Real Madrid everybody has the chance to shine.”
Despite such claims, Fati has been a regular for the Catalan giants this season, making 25 appearances so far in all competitions, scoring five goals.
