Coutinho has spent this season on loan at German champions Bayern Munich, although the Bundesliga outfit have allegedly made it clear that they do not intend to sign the winger on a permanent basis.
As per Sport (via Sportwitness), the Foxes have already contacted the Brazilian and Coutinho is attracted to the idea of playing for Brendan Rodgers again.
The two worked together at Liverpool and Coutinho flourished under Rodgers. The former Liverpool boss was integral to his development into a star at Anfield.
90min recently learned that Coutinho’s former club Liverpool still have the first refusal on the Brazilian, but are set to reject the prospect of a reunion in the next transfer window.
Manchester United, Tottenham, Chelsea, and Arsenal have all been linked with his services in recent weeks, but none of the clubs have stated the intention to buy the player permanently. That could give Leicester a potential route to signing him, with Barca said to be keen to recoup some money for him rather than let him out on loan.
The Foxes could play in the Champions League next season and they will need high quality players like Coutinho. The Brazil international, who has registered eight goals and six assists in Germany’s top flight this season, will see his current deal at Barca expire in 2023.
