Manchester United have reportedly failed in their bid to extend striker, Odion Ighalo’s contract as they were unable to announce his extension before his current loan agreement expired on Sunday night.
The Red Devils had been locked in serious negotiations with Chinese Super League side, Shanghai Shenhua over a deal to extend the contract of the striker, but as per Dailymail, Ighalo’s loan fee has been a problem for the Red Devils and that a new deal has not been agreed.

Ighalo’s agent, Atta Aneke had recently revealed that the two clubs had discussed a loan extension until the end of January 2021, when the 30-year-old would return to Shanghai, but no agreement could be reached before Sunday’s deadline.
There has been confusion over where Ighalo currently stands as it was earlier claimed that Shanghai would only agreed to a loan extension if there was a clause inserted of an obligation to buy once the loan spell ends, with the club wanting a fee in the region of 20million for the 30-year-old.
The former Watford striker who moved to Old Trafford in January has been impressive for the Red Devils ever since his move, scoring four goals in eight games so far.
