Brazil and Barcelona legend, Ronaldinho has opened up on his time in Paraguayan prison, revealing that he was “totally surprised” at being arrested and that he never “imagined” he would go through such a situation.

The 40-year-old recently found himself along with his brother arrested by authorities on arrival in Paraguay for allegedly using fake documents to enter the country. After spending 32 days in prison
judge Gustavo Amarilla decided that they could live in a hotel while they await trail on the charges.

Ronaldinho for his part has reiterated that they came to the country to attend the launch of an online casino and that he is working very hard with the local police to try and resolve the situation.

“We were totally surprised to learn that the documents were not legal. Since then our intention has been to collaborate with the justice system to clarify the facts.
From that moment until today, we have explained everything and facilitated everything that has been requested of us,” he said as quoted by Goal.

“It was a hard blow, I never imagined that I would go through such a situation. All my life I have sought to reach the highest professional level and bring joy to people with my football.”

Widely considered as one of the best players in the history of the sport, he won the Ballon d’Or in 2005 and was an integral part of Brazil and Barcelona’s success during his playing career.
