Cristiano Ronaldo is in the headlines, again. According to some reports in Italy, Juventus might sell their superstar in the summer transfer window to ease the financial burden on them. Meanwhile, some other reports claim Juventus will hold on to Ronaldo even if they have to offload several other players.
A return to Real Madrid – his previous employers – had been tipped and squashed. Nevertheless, Ronaldo’s Portugal team-mate, Jose Fonte would not be surprised if his compatriot returned back to the B because the 5-time Ballon d’Or winner loves Madrid. “I know he loves Madrid, that’s for sure,” Jose Fonte, 36, told talkSport.
“It’s clear that he loves the club itself, it’s one of the biggest clubs in the world, if not the biggest. He’s left many, many friends there and he’s always left the door open. So I’d not be surprised if he goes back to Real Madrid,” said Fonte as speculations rise on the future of the 35-year-old.
Juventus, however, are unlikely to sell him. He has been a hit for the Old Lady, on and off the field, and is their top scorer this season, before football was brought to a halt due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ronaldo had left Madrid in 2018, but the relationship between the player and the team seems to have become better as Cristiano was found supporting Los Merengues during the El Clasico in Santiago Bernabeu this season
