Sometimes, being the provider of a goal is much more satisfying than actually scoring a goal.

Executing a pinpoint pass through the eye of a needle or whipping in the perfect free-kick, the process of setting up a colleague has become an art form.

In the Premier League, assist records are seriously envied, particularly Thierry Henry’s achievement of notching 20 in a single season back in 2002/03.

But only SIX players have managed the rare feat of assisting four goals in the same game in the Premier League.

The exclusive club is heavily made up by Arsenal players who churned in unselfish performances in big wins for the Gunners.

Here are the six players to register four assists in a single Premier League game.

1. Dennis Bergkamp vs Leicester City, 1999

Dennis Bergkamp, one of the greatest players in the history of both Arsenal and the Premier League, was the very first member of the club after producing a masterclass against Leicester in 1999.

He is fondly remembered for his iconic hat-trick against Leicester in 1997, but he decided to turn creator when he met the Foxes again two years later. This time, it was a young Nicolas Anelka who grabbed a trio of goals as the Flying Dutchman pulled the strings.

2. Jose Antonio Reyes vs Middlesbrough, 2006

In a 7-0 drubbing of Middlesbrough, the late Jose Antonio Reyes assisted four as Thierry Henry helped himself to a hat-trick at Highbury in 2006.

The Spanish International passed away last June in a car crash. The Spaniard who represented La Furia Roja in the 2006 World Cup, was currently on contract at Spanish lower division side Extremadura.

3. Cesc Fabregas vs Blackburn, 2009

Cesc Fabregas’ demolition of Blackburn Rovers in October 2009, perfectly demonstrated his significance within Arsenal’s tactical structure.

Fabregas dominated the match with one goal and four assists. His ability to create space for himself and his uncanny knack for exposing the gaps between defenders, enabled Fabregas to create chance after chance for his teammates.

4. Emmanuel Adebayor vs Newcastle, 2012

Despite being renowned for his goal scoring ability, the Togolese striker turned playmaker extraordinare for Tottenham against Newcastle in 2012, orchestrating a memorable 5-0 win.

Adebayor not only setup four goals, but scored a brilliant volley himself. And became the first non-Arsenal player to register four assists in a single game.

5. Santi Cazorla vs Wigan Athletic, 2013

In a game that saw Wigan relegated from the Premier League, Santi Cazorla was at his very best as the Spanish magician assisted all four of Arsenal’s goals in the vital 4–1 win that kept the Gunners in fourth place.

The Wigan defenders were no match for the Spaniard’s superior footballing intellect, and as Wigan failed to survive relegation, they became the first team to win the FA Cup and suffer relegation from the top flight in the same season.

6. Dusan Tadic vs Sunderland, 2014

In 2014, Southampton‘s Dusan Tadic conjured up a magical display in a resounding 8-0 defeat of Sunderland – scoring one and assisting four in game where Sadio Mane scored the quickest ever Premier League hat-trick and the visitors scored three own goals.

Tadic also equalled the Premier League assist record and no other player has joined the club in the last seven years.
