UEFA are reportedly considering playing a ‘mini-tournament’
The coronavirus pandemic has put football and the entire sporting world on hold, leaving competitions such as the Champions League and Europa League in a state of limbo.
European football’s governing body, UEFA, is due to meet on April 23 for further discussions on how to complete the 2019/20 campaign. According to the Mirror,
It is believed UEFA officials are considering a mini-tournament that would be played in one venue – potentially in Istanbul, which is where the final was originally due to take place on May 30.
UEFA are set to hold meetings with the 55 associations early next week, where plans for the resumption of domestic leagues will be discussed as the governing body plots a safe return for continental competition.
UEFA will also discuss a final decision on the women’s Euros which was due to take place next year in England, the under-21s and also the Nations League at their ExCo meeting via a video conference next Thursday.
