Brazil and Paris Saint-Germain star, Neymar has been heavily linked with a return back to Barcelona over the past year or so and now a representative of the player has refuted such reports of a potential transfer.
The coronavirus or COVID-19 pandemic has led to a complete shutdown in the world of football with all the major leagues currently suspended. With the footballing authorities looking to resume sometime between June and August, L’Equipe claims that this could affect the summer transfers and hence it would be a very quiet one this time around.
“We have never spoken about [a return to Barcelona]. For the moment, our only concern is with the coronavirus. We think the summer will be calm. Honestly, we are not talking about [a move] at this moment. Neither an extension with PSG, nor moving elsewhere,” a representative of the player said.
Despite criticism aimed at the 28-year-old for his off-field antics, there is no doubt that he has been brilliant on the pitch since his move to the French capital in 2017. Neymar has scored 69 goals in just 80 games in all competitions so far, leading the club to two consecutive Ligue 1 titles, and one Coupe de France and Coupe de la Ligue title.
